"We envision a school system where a variety of pathways to academic and career success are available for all students; where adults consistently work in a collaborative school culture to improve student learning; where all educators willingly accept responsibility for the academic success of each student; and where all students become independent life-long learners confident in their ability to succeed in a global society following high school graduation."

Dear Noli Families,

We are honored to host our upcoming Native Health Day on Monday, May 19th, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, here at Noli Indian School. This meaningful event is designed to provide students with culturally relevant, health-focused sessions that support their emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Throughout the day, students will rotate through a series of workshops. Some of the topics are sensitive in nature, and we want to ensure you are aware of the content being covered. If there are any sessions that you prefer your student not participate in, we kindly ask that you notify Noli’s front office by 4:00 PM this Friday, May 16th.

Session Overview:

  • Tabled during Nutrition and Lunch – Nutrition Education
    Hosted by Jessica Valdez
  • Room 12 – Allyship & Community Support (Optional Session)
A session focused on how to support and be an ally to all communities, including the Two-Spirit and LGBTQ+ community.
Students may opt out of this session and participate in an alternate activity.
  • Room 13 – Online Gambling and Addiction
Discussion on the risks and impacts of online gambling and addictive behaviors.
  • Room 14 – Mental Health Shirt Design & Handprint Ceremony
Creative expression around mental health, including a handprint project to reflect on personal and collective healing.
  • Room 15 – Girls’ Session: Beaded Necklace Activity & Mental Health Discussion
Exploring how traditional activities promote good mental health.
  • Room 16 – Boys’ Session: Cultural Activity & Importance of Signing Ceremonies
A space for cultural learning, reflection, and tradition.

At the conclusion of the day, students and families are invited to join us for a Burning Ceremony. This ceremony is part of the “Handprint Project,” where students trace their handprints onto a cloth and write the initials of loved ones who have passed from suicide or addiction—or who may still be struggling. The burning of the cloth is a symbolic and healing gesture to honor and remember those individuals.

Lunch will be provided to all students and families who attend.

We are grateful for your continued support in fostering a safe and supportive environment for our students. Should you have any questions or concerns, or if you would like to opt your student out of specific sessions, please contact the Noli front office at (951) 654-5596 or visit in person no later than 4:00 PM this Friday, May 16th.

Thank you for being a vital part of the Noli community.

With respect and care,
Donovan Post
Principal
